The members of First Bible Baptist Church began
meeting August 18, 1996 in room 102 at Kansas City Baptist Temple.
Rick Johnson, the missions pastor at KCBT at the time, captured
a vision. That vision was Eastern Jackson County including Blue
Springs, Lee's Summit, Grain Valley, Oak Grove, and Odessa. Rick
Johnson looked out over Eastern Jackson County and perceived a
need. That need was for strong, Bible believing and teaching churches.
FBBC met downstairs in KCBT for several months,
conducting its own services, yet within the walls of another church.
On February 4, 1997, First Bible Baptist Church began meeting
at Vesper Hall in Blue Springs. On May 4, 1997, the Kansas City
Baptist Temple officially commissioned First Bible Baptist Church.
Over the past few years, God has continued
to bless First Bible Baptist Church. In 1999, FBBC purchased
25 acres of land on a prime thoroughfare in Blue Springs.
The church broke ground on the land to begin construction
in July of 2001 and opened it's doors in June 2002. It functions
not only as a place of worship, but as a place of fellowship
and encouragement where the family can be drawn together.
